Why do men wear undershirts under a t-shirt when it is hot out?

It’s 90 degrees out and I still see men wear two shirts. I understand that some men wear two shirts since they don’t want their chest hair to poke through the outside shirt, but I also notice that men without much chest hair also wear two shirts.

Absorb the sweat. Seriously, when it’s 90 degrees outside, I’d have sweat mark stains on my expensive shirt. With an undershirt, the sweat marks aren’t visible nor is my expensive outer shirt damaged.

Plus a light T doesn’t really add that much to the heat experience. Surely there is some article of clothing women use, which you can use to relate to this?
