Holiday Bazaars, usually held during the fall and winter, are a tradition for many churches, schools, charities and other organizations nonprofit. It's the best time of year to raise money like this. People are getting into the holiday spirit and are looking to buy craft items, homemade gifts and baked goods.

It takes a team of volunteers to start a successful fund-raising bazaar. We also have several months of planning. But, after having held a bazaar will know how to do better in the coming years.

Here is a list of positions you will have to complete a holiday bazaar committee:

President – in charge of finding volunteers for the presidency of the positions, helps presidents and oversees the whole bazaar.

Vendor Coordinator – Throws applications and authorization forms to sellers, collecting money from vendors.

Fund Coordinator – Responsible for the creation and dismantling of the event, insurance and security for the event. It oversees the parking and traffic.

Money Coordinator – In charge of all monetary transactions associated with the bazaar. Work with the treasurer of the organization.

Food Coordinator – In charge of the food vendors and volunteers, and food sold at the event.

Advertising Coordinator – In charge of advertising. Prepare flyers and promotional pieces.

Prizes and Raffles Coordinator – In charge of getting donations of prizes to be used as prizes and raffles

How your organization can raise money with a holiday bazaar

Vendor Fees – charged for rental space, table rental, electrical connection. You can also charge a percentage of sales to dealers.

VIP Shopping – sell tickets to special VIP day before the purchase to the main event. Sell hors d'ouvres and offer prizes as an incentive to purchase VIP tickets.

Bake Sale – Have a bake sale throughout the event. The holidays are a busy time of year and homemade baked goods are good sellers.

Raffles and auctions – Normally each seller is asked to donate an item to use as a prize.

The sale of donated items – Have your own table to sell items donated.

Food Concessions – Food service can be as elaborate as a dinner or as simple as coffee and donuts. At least should have drinks and snacks such as pretzels and chips for sellers and buyers to buy.

Sell Items Promotional – If your organization has t-shirts, Cd's, recipe books, or anything other than make sure you have sold in the bazaar.

Holiday Bazaars are usually held inside because he will not worry about time. The most common time to hold a bazaar is Saturday. Or you can have a two-day event and that beginning on the Friday afternoon.

Allow sufficient time for vendors and artisans to create his paintings. If you can set the night before the bazaar, and the day of the bazaar – the better. Be sure to provide support and security for the sellers.

Try to make your unique holiday bazaar. If there is something that your organization or school is characterized by, find a way to take advantage of this. For example, I know of a church that sells hand-church mice ornaments Christmas each year on their Christmas bazaar. Each year a different theme for the church mouse is created and the church members make ornaments throughout the year.

We all know about the wonderful volunteers that has been in charge of the annual bazaar of the last ten years. What happens when he or she is no longer willing or able to be in charge? Save all files for reference. Better yet, develop a guide for planning your bazaar. This will help greatly when it is looking for new volunteers to help.
