how do i fill a color to a vector shape in photoshop cs4?

ive really spent a lot of effort and time in making this complex bitmap image to be a vector shape using the mighty pen tool so that it wud not be pixelated because it will be used in t-shirt printing, and the source image was small so i enlarged it and it became pixeleated, then i decided to vector it. now im stuck because there is no color in the shape. in the steps i was after using the pen tool in its subtract mode or something… like to put a hole in the middle of the shape.. by the way, here is my shape:

It looks to me like the color is currently set to the same color as the background. Double click on the layer – with your cursor over the maroon box and the color picker should launch where you can select black.

But you also have a color overlay – is that not able to make the shape black as well?
