What would happen if I use light t shirt transfers on a dark coloured shirt?

Hi,
has anyone tried this before? I am just curious, cause I bought a really expensive pack of light coloured fabrics, but my previous dark coloured shirt got ruined in the wash – so I want to design on it again. All help appreciated. Thank you. PEACE.
