T Shirt Quilts How To

What kind of material should I use between each t-shirt of my t-shirt quilt?

I’m putting t-shirts on both sides of my quilt. I need a border, and I need 2-3 inches of material between all the t-shirts. I was wondering if anyone out there knew if I should use cotton or some other kind of material. Most of my t-shirts are cotton and we had to put a backing on the t-shirts. That’s why I wasn’t sure if I should use cotton material or how that works. Any ideas?

Use cotton for the sashing between the t-shirts, 1-1/2″ to 2″ wide plus seam allowances. If the shirt designs have a dominant color, try to pick up the color in the sashing and border. The sashing and border can be the same fabric, but don’t have to be.

Backing the t-shirts was a good move to keep them from stretching and the quilt from sagging. I used fusible interfacing to line the shirts when I made this kind of quilt.
