T-shirt printing Copyright?

I’m planning to start a T-shirt printing business, i will do the designs myself,
i just want to ask about what images to use and not to use, I’m thinking of artistic designs, like paintings, or even cool wallpapers available on the internet. or even sketches of animals. an i will just add additional graphics on them, like brush styles on adobe Photoshop .If i use them as printed material on shirts and i sell them, am i violating any copyright laws?

If they are your creations then the copyright belongs to you. Using some copyright free clip art is okay, but you need to read the disclaimer carefully. If you use clipart in advertising it’s not a problem but if you sell the “art” as art you are violating the copyright.

In summary, you can manipulate and tweak copyright free artwork to create your own art. That doesn’t apply to other art. You’ll need permission for those.
