what all is needed for graphic design and publishing?

Okay, So i’m wondering what all is needed to create and publish my own graphics and pictures.
For example: Say I wanted to start my own business such as volcom and wanted to start creating a logo and incorporate that onto a t shirt; what software such as adobe and stuff like that should I have; say i wanted to create a design on the computer and print it out on paper that i can screen print of press onto a t shirt. any special printers or programs needed? I know this is a lot but i need help; what all is necessary to have or to take action photos of surfers or skaters and create it such as volcom does to make websites and design them however I want.

There’s more to it than buying a bunch of stuff. That’s why graphic design is a profession that people get degrees in.
