T Shirt Fabric Pens
Bacherlorette party…?
we are trying to make t-shirts decorating them ourselves, and we dont want to pay crazy money for a fabric pen/marker, any ideas of what kind of ink to use on our shirts that wont bleed through to the other side, and wont wash out in the wash??
Sharpies work for this, but you can get fabric pens at Walmart for about the same price, and they last longer on the fabric (sharpies tend to fade after the garment is washed). You could also get fabric glue and rhinestones and glue the stones on in a pattern or spelling out words. Or, if you’re making the shirts at least a day before the party, do this: draw your design on a piece of cardboard and put the cardboard inside the shirt so you can see the design through the fabric. If you are using dark shirts, place the cardboard inside without drawing on it, then take a piece of paper with your design drawn on it and flip it over. Trace the outline of the design with chalk on the back of the paper. Then flip it chalk side down and lay it on the shirt. Use a pencil to trace the outline of the design, transferring the chalk from the paper to the shirt. Then use fabric paint like this: http://www.duncancrafts.com/ProductDetails.aspx?id=780bbd00-2fac-4e36-a6af-e39ef7b06020 (or any type that comes in a squeeze bottle) to fill in the design and coat with very fine glitter. Let the shirts dry overnight, then carefully shake off the excess glitter. I’ve done this with tons of shirts and they look very professional, like you bought them that way! The glitter stays on after many washes.
Hope this helps!
