T-shirt design?

Okay, so I'm thinking about design shirts and enter them in some of Shirt.Woot 's derbies and I need some information. I have some ideas, I do not know how to put them on your computer. First, "Is there a special program that I use for making designs shirts? Preferably free? Is it just photoshop? The Sirts I see in Shirt.Woot are computerized, not a photo of a shirt, do I have to make the outline of the shirt me or is there some kind of tempilate use? You can use Gimpshop as a free alternative to Photoshop. http://www.gimpshop.com/ Many of the shirts you're referring to are created as vector images. Adobe Illustrator is the most easy to create graphs and, in my opinion.
