Guide to buying the right clothes for your kids

Parents take great pleasure in dressing their children in beautiful clothing. Gone are the days when girls were dressed in pink or white dresses and boys in blue or navy pants and tops. When you go shopping for kid’s clothing make sure you have a properly planned budget and stick to it. Don’t forget to include accessories such as socks, stockings, hats and shoes in your budget. Work out what you need, such as clothing to wear around home, at daycare, kinder or school as well as an outfit or outfits for special occasions. For girls leggings, above knee skirts or dresses — which can be teamed with leggings or stockings if needed —  shorts, and pants allow the freedom of movement needed to play, climb and run with their friends. For boys, shorts or pants and overalls are always popular.

The key to putting together striking outfits without a high cost is to choose one good piece and team it with a more basic, low-cost item. For example, a beautiful floral summer skirt can be worn with a high-quality singlet, which usually costs under $10, which is able to double as a tank top. In winter, you could use a simple, plain colored skivvy.

With a bit of creativity you use also transform a plain top into something that will really stand out from the crowd. We’ve discovered it’s very easy to find an iron on motif at a craft shop to match a lovely skirt or fancy shorts. For example, a purple sequined butterfly to match a purple floral skirt or a beach motif to match back with trendy board shorts. These motifs transform a simple singlet, tee shirt or skivvy into a unique top that teams perfectly with the skirt or pants. Alternatively, you can prefer to buy a beautiful or stylish top with a more basic denim skirt or pant.

By following this approach it can be quite easy to stay within budget for day-to-day clothing. You may even find you come under budget, which enable you to spend more on special occasion’s outfits. For everyday kid’s clothing cotton is best. Organic cotton clothing is becoming increasingly popular as parents seek to reduce their children’s exposure to chemicals. Organic cotton is grown, spun and dyed without the use of chemicals, which is not only safer for children but better for the environment and the farmers who grow the cotton. For special occasions, man-made fibers such as taffeta or chiffon are often used to provide the dazzle required. Just make sure the outfit is comfortable — a large, stiff bow around the neck may look superb but it’s likely to irritate your little girl.
