Why is my belly button lint always gray??!?

I wear an undershirt everyday, A ribbed undershirt to be specific, I have blue, black, grey, and white undershirts, but no matter what color I wear, at the end of the day when I take it off my bellybutton lint is always gray; why is this? I can not for the life of me figure it out.

Grey lint is the standard color of clothing that’s combined coming from washing machines and/or dryers. If you were to open a seam of a piece of clothing, you’ll probably find small blobs of grey lint inside.
