For over 5 years the technology available for printing on to clothing garments has become and more advanced. Printing direct on to cotton through specialist printers with pigment inks means photographs can be transferred on to t-shirts with ease. In addition to direct to garment printing, screen printing, sublimation and heat transfer are available. All have their own merits. The preference for individual prints and personalised prints is direct printing or heat transfer.

The best use of this technology is for t-shirt printing, why? Because photogrpahs of family and friends on t-shirts was never possible without expensive screen printing techniques. Now it is freely available printing t-shirts for stag and hen parties for example is affordable and fun.

My Cool is proud to have been one of the first companies in the UK to use jet printers. Perfect for T-Shirts printing we can now print multi coloured images that are permanently printed onto a white 100% cotton t-shirt in any quantity. Even if it is just a one off t-shirt that is required we can do this fast and cost effective.

Because the image is digitally printed onto the t shirt direct from the computer. The ink used is water based so it won’t crack and gives the garment a nice soft feel. The printing is carried out on state of art technology with a special graphic programme adjusted for a perfect quality. Screen printing is still a far more superior quality of print but the technique still makes personalised t-shirts expensive to produce.

Direct to garment printing is great for Hen Night tees, Stag Night tees and promotional tees.

The benefits of sublimation printing means a permanent multi coloured print, but the material will be a polyester mix or poly cotton garments.

This is ideal for clothes such as running vests, football shirts, paintball shirts, poly cotton polo shirts. Sublimation printing is for you if you want to compromise on the quality of material. Similarly heat transfer is printed onto a special sheet of release paper using sublimation ink which is then heat pressed onto the garment. At a very high temperature and pressure the ink permanently dyes the polyester content of the fabric.

Whichever printing technique you choose for your personalised or party t-shirts the life expectency will be determined by this alone. Heat transfers on to cotton last a very long time, screen print will eventually fade but most screen printers use high quality cotton. Direct to garment printing will last just as long a heat transfer and sublimation cracks! My Cool use heat transfer and direct to material using cotton fabrics.
